British start-up Wollette has established its EU headquarters in Strasbourg

In the context of the French regulatory change banning the systematic printing of sales receipts, British start-up Wollette announces the establishment of its EU headquarters in Strasbourg.

A favorable regulatory context for the development of Wollette’s solution

Since August 1, 2023, France has banned the systematic printing of paper till receipt. This context has led British start-up Wollette to develop user-friendly solutions for consumers and French retailers.

Indeed, the solutions currently offered to cope with this regulatory change are not very user-friendly, such as receiving receipts by email, SMS, or via the banking area. Headed by Henry ORUNKOYA, who has over 20 years’ experience in the field of technology and financial services, Wollette offers a solution aimed at both consumers and professionals such as supermarkets.

Eventually, Wollette hopes to be able to aggregate in its app the entire relationship between retailer and customer (receipts, loyalty cards, coupons, gift cards) and eventually become a means of payment. This digital receipts application enables users to view their receipts and associate them with their bank transactions. At the same time, it enables retailers to improve ESG indicators, reduce costs, and reward and retain their customers. Ultimately, Wollette plans to exploit the data to make recommendations to consumers for their purchases.

Strasbourg’s choice for European influence

“Warm people make a difference!” This is the dimension that Henry ORUNKOYA emphasizes in his choice of Strasbourg as a business location. This warm welcome was underlined by all the support he received at every stage of his decision, from the Invest Eastern France team and the Grand Est region to the ADIRA team, the Eurométropole de Strasbourg teams who will be supporting the project through their Explore program, and the Semia teams where Wollette will be incubated in the coming months.

The appeal of Strasbourg, its excellent transport links, and its openness to neighboring countries such as Luxembourg, Belgium, Germany, and Switzerland have also contributed to the decision. These countries are poised to be intrigued by Wollette’s disruptive, environmentally friendly solution. With one employee already based in Eastern France, Wollette aims to recruit an additional 4-5 people by 2025.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Wollette and wish them every success as they embark on their journey of growth in our region!
