Eastern France is the country’s #1 for wine tourism

Champagne and Alsace are respectively the first and third wine tourism destination in France according to the latest report from the Eastern France Region.

A growing sector with an international reputation

Tourism activity in the wine sector has been growing for a decade with a turnover of 5.4 billion euros according to the latest report on wine tourism published in 2021. We have 6 million visitors each year on the Alsace Wine Route. Winegrowing represents 36% of the agricultural production of Eastern France with nearly 20,000 winegrowers in the region. 97% of the white wines classified as AOP come from Champagne and Alsace.

Thanks to their international reputation, our wines bring in 2.7 billion euros in exports with Great Britain, Germany and the United States as our main export partners.  The Champagne vineyards have been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2015. The little extra of our region: Due to our unique location, the Moselle Wine Route continues even beyond the border to Luxembourg and Germany
