Chemical platforms in Eastern France

With 3,500 companies, 170,000 jobs, and 2 billion in annual R&D investments, France is the second largest chemical cluster in Europe and has privileged infrastructures that facilitate the reception of new companies.

Eastern France refers to 3 chemical platforms allowing the establishment in an industrial and academic ecosystem. They offer land, buildings, laboratories, as well as shared services (raw materials, utilities, general services, security, logistics, co-innovation, etc.) allowing an easy and secure start for new entrants.

  • “Chemesis” Saint-Avold (http://www.plateforme-chemesis.com/fr/)
Specialty chemical companies (TOTAL, ARKEMA) and innovative companies on a 600 ha site. The platform includes a Seveso high threshold site. With its Technopark dedicated to innovation, Chemesis is a performance area that is unique in the world, ultra-competitive and welcoming.
  • “WEurope” Chalampé (https://alsachimie.com/weurope )
Since 2015, the Alsachimie site has become an industrial platform with almost 50 ha of surface area for new players in speciality chemistry on a Franco-German axis. 4 companies (Alsachimie, Air Products, Butachimie, Linde) employ more than 1,000 people and constitute the first European site dedicated to nylon chemistry (Polyamide 6.6).
  • The Bazancourt-Pomacle biorefinery covers an area of 260 hectares and brings together biorefinery players as well as the “Bioraffinerie Recherches et Innovations” innovation platform, which includes private (PREDA – https://www.a-r-d.fr/fr ) and public research teams.
Eastern France is a leader in the field of biorefinery, agrofuels, molecules of interest and biosourced materials. 4 million tonnes of biomass are processed here each year.
