Eastern France’s attractiveness at its highest level in 2023

With 188 foreign investment projects, including 74 start-ups, Eastern France confirms its attractiveness as a host of FDI, with an increase of almost 25% compared to 2022. The balance sheet of foreign investments in France carried out by Business France (Invest in France) was unveiled at the end of last week.

In 2023, 5,600 jobs were created or maintained as a result of these projects. With 35% of jobs created, the industrial sector is the largest recipient of FDI in Eastern France. This dynamic strengthens the attractiveness of the Eastern France around reindustrialization and energy and environmental transitions in our territory driven by the Region.

With 104 projects to expand foreign companies, the Region also confirms its ability to create an environment conducive to the development of foreign companies in the long term.

While Germany leads the way in investments in the Eastern France with almost 26% of projects listed in 2023, some countries have seen strong growth, such as the United States (13%) which is the second largest investor in the region this year, followed by Belgium (13%), the United Kingdom (9%) and Switzerland (6%), followed by Italy (4%) and the Netherlands (4%).
